Carving Board Cafe

Another week at the Carving Board. Line was long but the wait wasn't too bad. B got the burger with a side of pasta salad. J tried the BBQ sandwich which was pretty good, but a more uniform mix of sauce and meat would have been ideal.

Brick Oven Pizza

Called ahead and got the "Swamp Thing" (Helen of Troy actually, but it's covered in green stuff hence the name) but it was somewhat doubtful whether we would actually get the meal we ordered. Everything worked out alright in the end but Brick Oven always leaves us questioning the service...just a little bit.

Cafe Monteil

I think that's what this place is called. We usually just call it "the place above Kitchen of the Sun."

B finished his French Toast in about 12 seconds. J&J got the chicken sandwich with huge capers. The sweet potato chips are nothing to write home about and the hash browns were a little under-crisped. The chicken sandwich was good except for the fact that it's difficult to put a sandwich down once it has started to drip onto the plate. I think that guy on Hell's Kitchen would probably kill someone if they served such a drippy sandwich on the show.

The usual for J & B. N got some sort of cheesy sandwhich with a side salad...Not much else to report here.

A Quick Inspection

The lunch crew blog has been dying a slow death but I think it's time to revive it. I'll start by posting links to the Thomas Jefferson Health District reports for some of our favorite lunch spots.

Panera Bread

Due to their inability to provide moldless fruit cups, Panera isn't on my favorite lunch list. Couple that with the fact that I can't seem to find a sandwich that doesn't suck and you can see why we don't go to Panera more often.

Today's experience consisted of ten minutes of walking around in search of an unoccupied table that could seat four. This objective was hampered by the douchebag individuals who insist on taking up a four-person table by themselves. If only it were socially acceptable to bludgeon such offenders.

My meal was an "Asiago Roast Beef" sandwich; it might have been good if the bread hadn't been chiseled from stone. What do the French find so appealing about bread that turns the roof of your mouth into hamburger? After wrestling with my pathetic meal for 20 minutes, we finally left. I'd list what everyone else ate, but I was too busy being annoyed with trying to eat mine to notice. They'll have to bribe me to get me back here anytime soon.
